Donald Elwood Rickert

Grace U.M. choir member was manager at business


---- — Donald Elwood Rickert, formerly of Ivan Drive, Grove City, and Buffalo, N.Y., died at 12:16 a.m. Saturday (5-4-13) in Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City. He was 81.

He was born May 18, 1931, in Lansford, Pa., to Elwood and Evelyn Welker Rickert.

He was a 1953 graduate of Lehigh University.  

He served as a commander in the Navy and the Navy Reserves in the 1950s and 1960s.

He worked for Murphy Flour, Springfield Township, where he was the manager from 1981 until he retired.

Formerly he was an insurance adjuster and a manager for Mapleleaf Foods, Buffalo.

He belonged to Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, where he was a member of the choir.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon J. Loforte, Syracuse, N.Y.; a son, Scott D. Rickert, Buffalo, N.Y.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Rickert Blair.

Calling hours: 10 a.m. to time of service Tuesday (5-7-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME INC., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Howard Greenfield, senior pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, officiating.

Burial: Center Cemetery, Pine Township.
