Robert N. “Corny” Jennings Sr., formerly of Sharpsville, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Friday (5-17-13) at St. Paul’s, West Salem Township, following a brief illness. He was 87.
Mr. Jennings was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Sharpsville to Fred and Eva Mae (Tedrow) Jennings.
He was an honorary graduate of Sharpsville High School, class of 2003.
Bob served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
On Aug. 14, 1948, he married Dorothy Dodds, who survives.
Bob worked as a route salesman for Frito-Lay until his retirement after 30 years.
He was a charter member of South Pymatuning Community Church. He was also a member of Sharpsville VFW.
Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling with his late friend Ange Leonetti, hunting with his late friend George Abbott, and spending time with his late friend Jim Ague.
He was a Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.
Bob was Santa Claus at Kraynak’s and drove the “Chug Van” for Dean Dairy.
He was a people person who enjoyed socializing with everyone. His family was most important to him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; a daughter, Wendy K. Andes, Sharpsville; a son, Robert (Denise) Jennings Jr., West Middlesex; a brother, Fred (Mary) Jennings, Greenville; a grandson, Matthew Jennings; four granddaughters, Keri O’Brien, Alicia Kimpan, Julie Pollock and Jill Andes; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Benjamin, Sam and Kylie.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Charles Jennings; four sisters, Agnes Hixon, Elizabeth McCracken-Boyd, Kathryn Davenport and Martha McCartney; and two brothers, Herman Jennings and Blaine Jennings.
Bob’s family thanks the staff at St. Paul’s for the wonderful care they provided.
