Andrew Olshavsky of Sharon passed away peacefully at 8:27 p.m. Friday (7-6-12) in Juniper Village at the Shenango Inn, Sharon. He was 94.
He was born March 2, 1918, to Peter and Mary (Patok) Olshavsky in Farrell.
He graduated from Sharon High School and studied electrical engineering at Youngstown State University for 2 years.
Andrew worked as an electrical maintenance foreman for Sharon Steel for 32 years.
He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion in Wheatland and Masonic Lodge 517 in Sharpsville; was past monarch of El Buca Grotto Shrine Club, Eastern Star 156 in Farrell; and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, New Castle Consistory.
He enjoyed farming and going to farmers’ markets.
Andrew is survived by two daughters, Donna Holter, West Middlesex; and the Rev. Rita L (Robert) Staul, Glouster, Va.; a son, Andrew (Jean) Olshavsky, Titusville, Fla.; a sister, Delores Beach, Sharon; and two brothers, Michael Olshavsky and Peter (Peggy) Olshavsky, both Hermitage.
He is also survived by stepchildren, George, Raymond and Nancy Axe; and 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and his first wife, Philomena Novicky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Marjorie Ruth Rainey; a son, David P. Olshavsky; three sisters, Ann Koshan, Irene Brontingham and Helen Bottenfield; two brothers, John and Edward Olshavsky; and one granddaughter, Rita Rice.
