William ‘Bill’ A. Morocco Sr.

Educator was Farrell councilman, mayor

---- — A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday for William “Bill” A. Morocco Sr. of 1917 Paul St., Farrell. He passed from this life at 11:15 a.m. Thursday (7-18-13) in his home after a brief illness. He was 67.

Mr. Morocco was born June 12, 1946, in Sharon to Richard A. and Mary E. Carine Morocco, both of whom are deceased.

A graduate of Farrell High School class of 1964, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Gannon University in Erie and a master of arts degree in secondary education from Westminster College, New Wilmington.

Mr. Morocco taught history, civics and social studies at East High School in Youngstown, Kennedy Catholic High School in Hermitage and finally at Farrell High School for a total of 28 years as an educator.

Bill served on Farrell City Council from 1978 to 1986 and from 1996 to 2000. He was elected mayor of Farrell and served from 2000 to 2008.

Bill was the Key Club adviser at Farrell High School and a member of the former Kiwanis Club of Farrell, for which he served a term as club president.

He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Church, Farrell.

His other activities and memberships included Shenango Valley Jaycees, Farrell-Wheatland Little League, Farrell Volunteer Fire Department, the Christopher Columbus Society and the Italian Home Club of Farrell.

Bill married Angeline Santell on July 27, 1968, who resides in Farrell.

Besides his wife, Bill is survived by: two sons, Bill Morocco Jr., Hollywood, Calif.; and Matthew Morocco and his wife Tyler, Pittsburgh; and a grandson, Dominic Santell Morocco.

Also surviving are: a brother, Richard A. Morocco Jr., Esq., and his wife Kathie, Holden, Mass.; an aunt, Jessie Evans, Hermitage; and two brothers-in-law, Joseph D. Santell Jr. and his wife Jeannie; and Patrick Santell and his wife Jeannette.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to Shenango Valley Animal Shelter, 2599 Broadway Road, West Middlesex, PA 16159; or Humane Society of Mercer County Inc., 3005 E. State St., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Burial: St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Hermitage.
