Oliver N. Emery

Self-employed mechanic enjoyed hunting


WARREN, Ohio — Oliver N. Emery, formerly of Hermitage, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday (7-23-13) with his family at his side in Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. He was 75.

Mr. Emery was born July 11, 1938, in New Castle, a son of Wendell and Florence Carr Emery.

A lifelong area resident, he attended New Castle schools.

A self-employed mechanic and transmission specialist, Mr. Emery owned and operated Emery’s Transmissions for more than 40 years, retiring in 2011.

Aside from working on cars, Oliver enjoyed hunting in his spare time. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed being with his family.

His wife, the former Diane D. Niemi, whom he married Oct. 16, 1965, survives at home.

He is also survived by: a son, John B. Emery and his wife Mishia, Hubbard; a daughter, Kelly S. Emery, Hermitage; three brothers, Elvin, Kenneth and James Emery, and a sister, Mary Drew, all New Castle; five grandchildren, John T. Emery, Cole P. Emery, Garrett D. Emery, Micki Grimm and Samantha Emery; and a great-grandson, Jackson Emery.

Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
