Jerry M. Reynolds of Sandy Lake passed away of natural causes at home surrounded by his family at 12:35 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013. He was 67.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Sandy Lake May 12, 1946, a son of Marvin M. and Eva L. Burk Reynolds.
He attended Lakeview High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1966.
Mr. Reynolds worked in the environmental cleanup industry and retired as an operations manager from Sevenson Environmental Services of Niagara Falls, N.Y., on Aug. 9, 1996. Prior to that, he worked for ECI Environmental, Roger AU and Geo-Con.
He was a member of the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church.
Jerry loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp; he loved to hunt, fish and trap. He enjoyed tinkering with old cars and going to car cruises.
He was a member of Reynolds Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599; American Legion Post 919, Fairview Township; and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 83, Franklin.
Known as a very giving person, he shared many words of wisdom. He was a sponsor of the Tom & Jerry softball team in the Lakeview area for many years.
As a loving husband, father and grandfather, he leaves behind his loving family: his wife, the former Linda C. King, whom he married June 24, 1966; two daughters, Wendy R. Walter, Stoneboro; and Sonya L. Zahorchak and her husband Scott, Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Kindra Scott and her husband Shane, and Brady and Chandler Walter, all Stoneboro; Ian, Anna and Grace Zahorchak, all Pittsburgh; two great-grandchildren, Owen Reynolds and Jaidyn Scott, both Stoneboro; two sisters, Audine Minshull and her husband Thomas, Greenville; and Marlene L. Booher, Sandy Lake; a brother, Marvin R. “Jum” Reynolds and his wife Judy, Stoneboro; sisters-in-law, Sherry M. Reynolds, Stoneboro; and Deb Reeder and her husband John, Grove City; brothers-in-law, Richard L. Booher, Sandy Lake; Steve Knight and his wife Donna, Boyers; Don Knight and his wife Robin, Grove City; Richard Knight, Harrisville; Gary King and his wife Belinda, Fla.; and Rick King and his wife Donna, in Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Elijah Reynolds Zahorchak; and a brother, Arlo S. Reynolds.
