YOUNGSTOWN – Private services will be held in Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church, officiated by the Rev. Martin Celuch, for Richard Kessler, 86, of Youngstown, who went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2014.
Richard was born in Youngstown on Aug. 6, 1927, a son of John and Jennie Yancar Kessler.
He was a member of the Army, serving in World War II.
Upon Richard’s return, he became employed by Erie & Lackawanna Railroad (Conrail) as a conductor, from which he retired. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Richard leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mary Ann Nelepka Kessler, whom he married 57 years ago; his children, Debora (Troy) Kessler Preston, West Middlesex; Edward Kessler, Boardman; Sharon (Jure) Kessler Sestich, San Pedro, Calif.; and Andrew (Valerie) Kessler, Marysville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Amanda and Joseph Truchan, Kathryn, Anthony and Nicholas Kessler, and Mia and Max Sestich; and two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Austin.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Kessler; a sister, Madelyn Walicki; a grandchild, Kristen Truchan; and a nephew, George Walicki.
