Mary Ellen Gills of Liberty Township (Grove City) passed away at her residence at 3:25 p.m. Thursday (7-17-14) to meet her Lord after a 22-month illness. She was 75.
Mrs. Gills was born in Grove City on Dec. 1, 1938, to Thomas Burton Corner and Lillian Marie Thompson Corner.
She married Ronald Leroy Gills on Aug. 25, 1956.
She retired as head cook at Hillview School, having worked for Grove City Area School District for 27 years.
She attended Wayside Community Church in Findley Township, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She had formerly attended Nazareth Church, where she was Sunday school teacher and was noted for her homemade pizza. She enjoyed life and spending time with her family, including camping with her immediate and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald L. Gills, Grove City; two daughters, Diana L. Vatter and her husband Robert, Grove City; and Brenda L. Smoker and her husband Marc, Volant; a son, Jack L. Gills, Mercer; four brothers, Thomas Corner and his wife Helen, Strongsville, Ohio; Robert Corner and his wife Nancy, Grove City; Charles Corner and his wife Jean, Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Barry Corner, Grove City; five grandchildren, Ryan Vatter, Jennie Gills, Shannon Smoker, Shaun Smoker and Paige; and three great-grandchildren, Koda, Camden, and Kenza.

Interment: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
