Patricia A. ‘Sis’ Merrell

Farrell grad was SRHS housekeeping supervisor

---- — Patricia A. “Sis” Merrell of Sharon passed away at 10:16 p.m. Tuesday (3-19-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, surrounded by family and close friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 50.

Mrs. Merrell was born July 21, 1962, in Pensacola, Fla., a daughter of John and Valerie Hoffman Swope.

She was a graduate of Farrell High School. Following high school, Sis attended Shenango Valley School of Business, where she received her certification to be a receptionist.

Mrs. Merrell was a supervisor in housekeeping for many years at Sharon Regional Health System.

Patricia was of the Methodist faith and attended Coalburg United Methodist Church in Hubbard.

She enjoyed reading, shopping, dancing and, earlier in life, was the leader of the Modern Woodsmen of America youth group.

Most importantly, she loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Merrell, whom she married April 15, 1989; her father, John Swope; a stepfather, William Brooks; three daughters, Nicole and her husband Robert Nuel, Masury; Danielle and her husband Mark Putnam, Brookfield; and Michelle Clark, Ashtabula, Ohio; a son, Christopher Merrell, Hubbard; four sisters, Ronda Brooks, Darla Bacon, Kim Flanigan and Sara Muffy, all Sharon; three brothers, Bill Brooks and his wife Carmen, Louisiana; Mark Brooks and his wife Paula, Texas; and Don Swope, California; and five grandchildren, AJ Clark, Kalyn Nuel, Landon Nuel, Lily Putnam and Riley Merrell.

Patricia was preceded in death by her mother; two children, Cynthia and Jennifer Richards; a brother, Lawrence Swope; and a best friend, Cindy Evans.
