---- — Catherine Young Friedline, formerly of Brookfield, passed away at 4 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, after a courageous eight-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 72.

Mrs. Friedline was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Sharpsville, a daughter of Henry Glenn Young and Catherine Edith Brown Young.

A lifelong area resident, she was a 1959 alumna of West Middlesex High School.

A volunteer, Cathy gave much of her time to Sharon Regional Home Hospice program, Mercer County Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Society.

She enjoyed knitting, collecting baskets, participating in Relay for Life events and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was also a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

She also leaves: two daughters, Ann Coleman and her husband Randal, Hudson, Ohio; and Heather J. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings and an infant grandson, James Kesner.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care or the Cancer Care Center Angel Fund of Sharon Regional Health System, both 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
