Lordstown retiree, Mason lived in West Middlesex


---- — John Roman Jr. of Wheatland Road, West Middlesex, died Sunday (4-28-13) in his home. He was 67.

Mr. Roman was born March 28, 1946, in Sharon to John Roman Sr. and Minnie Waneta Yelovach Roman. 

He was a 1964 graduate of West Middlesex High School and was an Army veteran, having served in Germany.

John retired in 2000 from General Motors Corp.’s Lordstown (Ohio) car assembly plant.

He was a member of Free and Acccepted Masons Kedron Lodge 389 in West Middlesex and, as a young man, was a member of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include: his two daughters, Melissa Hockenberry and her husband Richard, West Middlesex; and Kelly Gramata and her husband Andy, Rootstown, Ohio; a brother, Emil Roman and his wife Cindy, Sharpsville; two sisters, Cathy Rossi and her husband Frank, Newport News, Va.; and Patty Gunesch and her husband John, Lost Creek, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Casandra and Roman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Service: At John’s request, there will be no services. He wanted to be remembered as he was in life.
