Law enforcement officer served in Navy 20 years

---- — YOUNGS-TOWN – George F. Tyree of Youngstown passed away early Tuesday morning, April 30, 2013, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 76.

Mr. Tyree was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Morehead, Ky., a son of Earl and Delma Holbrook Tyree and came to Youngstown as a child.

He was a decorated military veteran, serving in the Navy for 20 years.

He retired in 2004 as a security guard at Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, Ohio.

George was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in Girard and Austintown, both Ohio, and enjoyed fishing and camping in Jamestown. Most of all, George enjoyed the time he shared with his family and friends.

George leaves his wife, Colleen O’Hare Tyree, whom he married Aug. 5, 1978; five children, Martin Tyree and his wife Tammy; Kathleen and her husband Brian Ostermann; Kevin Tyree and his fiancée Becki; and Michael Tyree, all Wisconsin; and Suzanne and her husband Jose Castillo, Warrington, Pa.; two stepchildren, Robert Vannoy, Youngstown; and Rebecca and her husband Vincent DiLoretto, Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Bacha, Youngstown; two brothers, Jimmy Tyree and his wife Mary Lou, McDonald, Ohio; and Crawford Tyree and his wife Charlotte, Austintown; his mother-in-law, Betty O’Hare, Hermitage; his brother-in-law, Thomas O’Hare and his wife Dana, Hermitage; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine and her husband Raymond Kush, Lockport, N.Y.; and Suzanne and her husband Richard Jelley, Hartford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Charlotte Goldner; and a brother-in-law, Bob Bacha.

George’s family suggests that those wishing to make memorial contributions do so by donating in Mr. Tyree’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
