Masury man, Navy veteran worked at Lordstown


---- — Dennis R. Cole of Masury passed away at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness. He was 69.

Mr. Cole was born April 2, 1943, in Sharon, a son of Romain “Tony” Cole and Margaret Jofery Cole.

He attended Sharon schools and went on to serve in the  Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Mr. Cole worked as a paint mixer at General Motors Corp.’s Lordstown (Ohio) car assembly plant for more than 40 years. He had also worked at the former National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp., Sharon.

Dennis enjoyed going to flea markets, reading and traveling. He was of the Catholic faith.

His wife, the former Devenna P. Carrier, whom he married June 16, 1962, survives at home.

Also surviving are his daughter, Amy D. Cole, Annapolis, Md.; his sons, Dennis J. “Jay” Cole and his wife Jennifer, Virginia Beach, Va.; and Charles “Chuck” E. Cole and his wife Luci, Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his brother, Timothy Cole and his wife Debra, Hartford, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jamie Cole.

Service: A private memorial service will be held Thursday (3-14-13) in HAROLD W. STEVENSON FUNERAL HOME, 264 E. State St., Sharon, with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, officiating.

Interment: Private at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
