Enjoyed stamp collecting, outdoors, time with family

— Eleanor J. Hays, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday (9-25-13) in Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Pine Township, after an extended illness. She was 86.

Born Oct. 4, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Hays was a daughter of Rose Lesney.

She was a graduate of Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh and a member of the Slippery Rock Alliance Church.

Eleanor was an avid stamp collector for years and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and listening to music.

Most of all she loved taking care of her family as a dedicated mother and grandmother.

Her husband, Fred K. Hays, whom she married July 11, 1958, preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1962.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley A. Pham and husband Tomme “Tom”, Frenchburg, Ky.; and Ida J. Grills, Stoneboro; and a grandson Andrew T. “Drew” Grills, Stoneboro.

Calling hours: 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday (9-28-13) in the SCOTT A BLACK FUNERAL HOME, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.

Funeral and committal service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday (9-28-13) in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. P. Joseph Barth, pastor of the Slippery Rock Alliance Church, officiating.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
