A funeral Mass will be celebrated today for Erla Ann “Annie” DelFratte of Hermitage Hills Boulevard, Hermitage, formerly of Sharpsville. She was welcomed in heaven at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, after a brief illness. She was 76.
Mrs. DelFratte was born March 23, 1937, the youngest daughter of Herman and Grace Ague Jennings, and was raised by Fred and Maude Ague Patton and John Fye.
She was a 1955 graduate of Sharpsville High School.
Mrs. DelFratte was employed by the former Shenango Furnace when she met her husband of 57 years, Joseph. Erla married Joseph L. DelFratte Sept. 15, 1956, and became a devoted wife and stay-at-home mom.
A devoted member of St. Bartholomew’s parish, Sharpsville, she served as lector and was an original member of the Samaritan’s team.
A cancer survivor, she supported the American Cancer Society and facilitated its annual book fair for more than 20 years.
Through the years she enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, collecting recipes, studying genealogy, writing poetry, attending class get-togethers, organizing casino bus trips, music and participating in a card club. In recent years, she helped with Shenango Inc. Retirees.
Besides her husband, she is survived by: her daughters, Becky and her husband Jim Wolf, Winter Haven, Fla.; and Jeanne and her husband Bill Patterson, Greenville; her beloved grandchildren, Zach and Kevin Wolf, Candace Vernille and Sylvia Patterson; and her sister, Norma Jean and her husband Thomas Findley, Sharpsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, June Sherman, Violet Reinhardt and Madeline Nickel; brothers, Herman “Bud” Jennings, Keith “Cheater” Redmond and Edward Patton; and a son-in-law, James P. Vernille.
