Former Byzantine church cantor was WWII veteran

CLARK AREA — PENN HILLS – Stephen G. Sember of Penn Hills died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013. He was 93.

He was the husband of the late Helen for 65 years; loving father of Arela, wife of Tony Mascaro; and Alex Sember; grandfather of Anthony and Tonya; and great-grandfather of Maya; brother of Helen Gelety, Arizona; and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a proud Army veteran of World War II.

Mr.. Sember served as a cantor at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church of Hermitage from 1946 to 1981.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, 100 W. Station Square Drive, Suite 500, Pittsburgh PA 15219.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday (10-7-13) in St. John the Baptist Church, Plum Boro.
