Jason D. ‘Pork’ Mathieson

Union laborer was demolition derby driver

---- — A funeral service will be held Monday for Jason D. “Pork” Mathieson of Sandy Lake. He passed away Friday (9-27-13) in the waters of Sandy Lake in Stoneboro, having been found on Wednesday afternoon. (10-2-13). He was 29.

Born Oct. 18, 1983, in Grove City, Mr. Mathieson was a son of Lester P. “Pete” Mathieson and Cynthia L. “Cindy” Guthrie Mathieson.

He attended Lakeview High School, Sandy Lake Township.

Mr. Mathieson was a member of Local 373 of Laborers union of Pittsburgh and was working for J.C. Lee Construction and Supply, Petrolia, Pa.

Pork loved building demolition derby cars and driving them in competition, where he won many trophies. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding four-wheelers. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends.

He was a dedicated father and will be sadly missed by his family and friends, especially his nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He leaves behind: his fiancée, Angela Womer, at home; two daughters, Myka Mathieson, also at home; and Jayleigh Mathieson, Jackson Center; a son, Chance Mathieson; and stepdaughter, Mackenzie Womer, both at home; and a daughter soon to be born who will be named Adalyn; his mother, Cindy Rebel and her husband Frank, Mercer; his father, Pete Mathieson and his companion Diana Black, Jackson Center; his maternal grandfather, Daniel Guthrie, Mercer; and maternal stepgrandmother, Lois Rebel, Mercer; and two brothers, Lester P. “Pete” Mathieson Jr. and his companion Fay Bogart, Sandy Lake; and Mikel A. Mathieson and his fiancée Amanda Walker, Jackson Center.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Karen Sue Boitnott; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Sadie “Gean” Mathieson; and a nephew, Lester P. Mathieson III.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday (10-6-13) in  SCOTT A. BLACK FUNERAL HOME, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (10-7-13) in Stoneboro United Methodist Church, 32 Lake St., with Chaplain Bill Beck of the Motor Racing Outreach Association officiating.

Interment: With committal service in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jackson Township.
