Melissa ‘Lisa’ Houle

Sharon woman worked at Moose lodge, Sunset Lanes


- — A memorial service will be held Saturday for Melissa “Lisa” Houle of Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon. She passed away at 7:33 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 57.

Mrs. Houle was born March 18, 1956, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of Theodore and Shirley Roberts Mitchell.

She was a graduate Lincoln High School in Canton, Ohio.

Mrs. Houle was employed as a bartender at Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 55, Farrell. Prior to working at the Moose, she was employed for 17 years at Sunset Lanes, Farrell, where she held numerous positions.

Melissa was a member of the Farrell Chapter 184 of Women of the Moose and bowled on various leagues. She enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved all animals. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are: her husband, Larry Houle, whom she married Dec. 13, 1997; her mother, Shirley DeMartinis, Canton; five children, Christina and her husband Jay Jones, Greenville; Steven and his wife Cindy Anderson, Royse City, Texas; Samantha and her husband Ryan Bensink, Clymer, N.Y.; Justin Houle, East Palestine, Ohio; and Ryan Houle, New Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Christine and her husband Dale George, Canton; and three brothers, Theodore and his wife Marsha Mitchell; and Randy and his wife Karen Mitchell, all Canton; and Jeffrey and his wife Lori Hiple, Sharon.

She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Brendan Buchanan, Kirsten Rice, Railynn Rice, Gage Jones, Casey Jones, Leora Jones, Chandler Heilaman, Kiya Bensink, Lucas Bensink, Lilly Houle and Bentley Houle.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father and a stepfather, Benjamin DeMartinis.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Farrell Chapter 184 of Women of the Moose, Box 26 Farrell, PA 16121; or Strayhaven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Road, Greenville, PA 16125.
