Larry K. Brest

Former Sharon resident was active in community

- — Mr. Brest was born July 6, 1941, in Sharon, a son of Kenneth H. and Gladys J. Brest.

Larry was a member of Hickory High School’s graduating class of 1960.

After high school, he served with the Army in Korea and was honorably discharged.

After his tour of duty, he matriculated to Youngstown State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Larry worked in Human Resources and retired as Vice President of Human Resources at Horton Memorial Hospital, Middletown, N.Y., and was a past president of the Human Resource Division of the Northern Metropolitan Association.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Monroe, N.Y., where he served on the Session. He also attended First Presbyterian Church, Sharon.

He served as past vice president of the Middletown Jaycees;  a past member of the Board of Directors of Occupations Inc. and the Board of Directors of Family Counseling Services of Orange County; on the Board of Directors of Monroe Presbyterian Preschool; and was a former Rotarian.

He is survived by his brother, Richard and his wife Nancy, Parker, Colo., and their three children and nine grandchildren; and his dear friend and companion, Beverly Sackett, Hermitage.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Keith Brest.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
