Alfred Junior Boatwright

1973 Farrell grad active in church worked at Reznor


- — A funeral celebration of life service will be held Friday for Alfred Junior Boatwright of Farrell. He passed away at 4:15 p.m. Sunday (1-26-14) in his home. He was 58.

Mr. Boatwright was born April 4, 1955, in Sharon, a son of James and Vera Sumrow Boatwright.

He was a 1973 graduate of Farrell High School and attended Gannon University, Erie.

He was employed with Reznor – a unit of Thomas & Betts Corp., Mercer.

As a faithful member of Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ in Farrell, he served as a trustee and vice president of the Senior Usher Board. He often dedicated his time serving breakfast for the Sunday school class and was a member of the men’s choir.

He enjoyed playing pool and he was a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Vera Bass, Madisonville, Ky.; his mother-in-law, Mary Bradshaw, Piscataway, N.J.; his loving wife, the former Sonia Bradshaw, whom he married June 11, 1994; his loving children, LaShawnda Justice, Sharon; Jamina Boatwright, Portland, Maine; and Julia Boatwright, Sharpsville; his sister, Priscilla and her husband Raahn Thompson, Charlotte, N.C.; his brothers, Willie Boatwright and his wife Kelley, Farrell; Howard Eddie Sumrow and his wife Maelowe, Sharon; Derrick “Dipper” Campbell, Hermitage; and Robert and Archie Bass; his brother-in-law, Raymond Bradshaw, Piscataway; nine grandchildren, including Shawn Freedom Michael, whom he raised; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brothers, Joseph Boatwright and Andre Campbell.
