Dawna Lee Okin

Model homemaker worked at bakeries, the Wave

- — She was born Sept. 26, 1934 in Latrobe, Pa., one of 13 children born to Cyrus Thomas and Helen Richards Anthony.

Dawna was the model homemaker, she was genuine and hardworking and she could bake, cook and can foods; there wasn’t anything she couldn’t do around her home. She was also an accomplished seamstress.

Dawna worked at one time for both the Hermitage Bakery and for the former Ideal Bakery, Farrell. She also once worked at  the former popular Wave restaurant in Sharon.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Her husband, Theodore Okin, whom she married Aug. 8, 1960, survives at home.

She is also survived by two daughters, Julie A. Racketa and her husband Dennis, Hermitage; and Sara M. Anthony, Sarasota, Fla.; two sons, Leonard A. Okin, Limestone, Fla.; and Edward J. Okin also of Sarasota; and her three grandsons, John and Jeremiah Burns, and Christopher Bingle; and her four great-granddaughters, Jennie Lynn, Emma Burns, and Ava Denée Burns and Parker Denée Burns.

She also leaves her six sisters, Barbara G. Knapp, Janet McChesney, Mary Jane Brockelhurst, Karen Shaffer, Linda Saxion, and Doris Jean Thorpe; and three brothers, Raymond, Charles, and Donald Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jennie Lynn Burns; and two sisters, Elizabeth Foltz and Maxine Lucas; and a brother Gerald Anthony.

In lieu of flowers her family suggest that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution to please consider Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
