Ethel E. Howard Jones Sours

---- — Ethel E. Howard Jones Sours of 258 Wise Road, Greenville, passed away at 5:12 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 96.

Mrs. Sours was born July 8, 1916, in West Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, to Robert P. and Ethel Landsperger Howard.

As a member of Shepherd of the Valley Church, South Pymatuning Township, she served as an elder and prayer chaplain and was a source of advice and counseling for all. At the age of 84, Mrs. Sours became the director of World International Network of Prayer for the Pennsylvania Conference.  

A homemaker, she enjoyed crafts and was known for her pie baking.

Her first husband, John E. Jones Sr., is deceased. Ethel married her husband, Kenneth Edwin Sours, on May 10, 2002. He survives at home.

Also surviving are two sons, Larry A. Jones Sr., Montalba, Texas; and Robert R. Jones, Utica; and 29 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dale J. Feltes; a son, John E. Jones Jr.; five sisters, Agnes Bush, Edna Mae Florian, Hazel Lutz, Roberta Smaligo and Alberta Raling; and a brother, Robert P. “Bud” Howard Jr.

Calling hours: 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday (4-28-13) in RANDALL FUNERAL HOME, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (4-29-13) in Shepherd of the Valley Church, South Pymatuning Township, with the Rev. Peter Kusko officiating.

Interment: Jones Family Cemetery, Greenville.
