Andrew Miller

Farrell attorney was active in Lions Club, other groups

---- — Andrew M. “Bud” Miller of Farrell passed from this life at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday (5-7-13) in Select Specialty Hospital, Warren, Ohio, after a brief illness. He was 67.

Mr. Miller was born March 9, 1946, in Sharon to Andrew B. “Ben” and Helen L. Stefanak Miller. They are both deceased.

A prominent Farrell attorney, he was a graduate of Farrell High School, class of 1964. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Youngstown State University and subsequently received a juris doctorate degree from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh.

Andrew was a member of Mercer County and Pennsylvania Bar associations and was active in several local service and fraternal organizations including Farrell Lions Club, of which he was a member for 32 years. Andy was selected as Lion of the Year twice and served as King Lion for two terms.

He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 103, Sharon; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286 and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 55, both Farrell; and the Slovenian Workingmen’s Educational Home, Sharon.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam conflict.

Andrew was a Roman Catholic and a past member of the former St. Ann Church in Farrell.

He was a voracious reader and enjoyed vegetable gardening, golfing and playing basketball and volleyball.

Andy is survived by two daughters, Melissa Calhoun and her husband Alton, Spring, Texas; and Kara S. Miller, Ithaca, N.Y. There are two brothers, Robert L. Miller and his wife Susan, Transfer; and Matthew M. Miller and his wife Joyce, Cortland, Ohio. There are three grandchildren, Jackson, Walker and Claire Calhoun, all Spring. He is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews and 25 great-nieces and -nephews.

Beside his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Masselli; and a brother-in-law, Dr. Donald J. Masselli.
