Michael A. “Mickey” Natale Sr. of New Castle passed away peacefully Saturday evening, May 18, 2013, in his residence. He was 84.
Mr. Natale was born Nov. 23, 1928, in New Castle, a son of Frank A. “Tony” Natale and Joana Barone Cea Natale.
Mr. Natale was an Army veteran and served in Fort Ord in California during the Korean conflict.
After 30 years of service, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service as postmaster for the Ellwood City branch. During his career there, he helped a lot of people and had many different positions including personnel director.
Mickey was a member of Local 27 of American Federation of Musicians Union (AFMU) and served as a past president and treasurer. He also belonged to the Italian American Defamation League (IADL) and was a member and former officer of the local chapter.
Mr. Natale was a pianist and was a member of the Mickey Natale Trio and The Fun Bunch along with several other jazz bands.
He was an avid sports fan and coached Pop Warner football. He especially was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins and the Pitt Panthers.
Mickey was a member of St. Vitus Church, New Castle.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Caroline Rozzi, whom he married Aug. 17, 1951.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his four children, Margie Ryan and her husband Fred; Julie “Ju-Ju” DeLillo and her husband Donald “Dude”; Michael Natale Jr. and his wife Diana; and Jana Natale, all New Castle; seven grandchildren, Tony Miller and his wife Kristie, Bobbie Lynn Girman and her husband Jason, Mark Ryan, Richie Ryan and his wife Michelle, Leigh Ann DeCristoforo and her husband Sean, Brittany Natale and Michael Natale III; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas Natale Sr. and Eugene Natale; and a sister, Irene Leitera.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday (5-22-13) in St. Vitus Church, New Castle, with the Rev. William Siple as celebrant. A procession will leave the funeral home at noon for church.
Interment: Parkside Cemetery, New Castle, with military rites to be conducted at the cemetery by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.
