- — Fred Allan Eshelman of Grove City passed away at his residence on Friday, April 18, 2014, following an eight-month illness. He was 60.

Mr. Eshelman was born Nov 15, 1953, a son of Allan Daren Eshelman and Nellie Nan Charles Eshelman.

He graduated from Grove City High School in 1971 and went almost immediately into the real estate business. Fred was self-employed and owned and operated Matthews Realty in Grove City.

He married Helen L. Steighner on Oct. 21, 1988.

He was member of Grove City Eagles; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 519, Grove City; and Jackson Center Field and Stream. He also was very involved with the Angel Tree program in Grove City for more than 21 years.

Fred enjoyed hunting, golfing and outdoor work in general. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was forever taking care of other people when they were sick.

He was the “go-to guy” in Grove City for people in town asking questions about real estate. He was known for his honesty and generosity and, mostly, as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, Grove City; a son, Cliff A. Eshelman and his wife Sarah, Grove City; a stepdaughter, Tammi S. Martin and her husband Rick, Volant; a stepson, Steven B. Cogley and his wife Michele, Philadelphia; his stepmother, Barbara Eshelman, Grove City; two sisters, Patricia A. Williams and her husband George, Pittsburgh; and Apryl Chidiac, Chicago; a brother, Charles Eshelman, Wyoming; and three grandchildren, Bryce, Sophia and Mika.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. to time of service Tuesday (4-22-14) in Leesburg Presbyterian Church, 1831 U.S. Route 19, Volant.

Service: Memorial service at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Thomas Gomola, pastor, presiding.
