Neil R. Swisher

Retired steelworker was Korean War Army veteran


- — Neil R. Swisher of New Wilmington passed away Friday morning, May 9, 2014, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 84.

Born Feb. 22, 1930, in New Castle, he was a son of Carl J. and Elizabeth L. Lusk Swisher.

A graduate of the former Sandy Lake High School, Neil served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He retired from Sharon Steel/LTV Steel.

Neil enjoyed gardening, taking care of his lawn and hunting.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and William White of Volant, and Michele and Donald Bolinger of New Wilmington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Swisher of Stoneboro, and Brian and Paula Swisher of New Castle; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Edward Kaminski of Brighton, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Martin.


Neil R., 84, of New Wilmington.

In keeping with Neil’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or service. The family will have a private gathering.
