MEADVILLE — Dorothy “Dot” Palicia Krolikowski of 8394 Perry Highway, Meadville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, in her home after a short illness. She was 84.

Mrs. Krolikowski was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Monessen, Pa., a daughter of Anthony and Anna Hrisak Palicia.

On Dec. 30, 1950, Dorothy married Michael “Mike” Krolikowski, who preceded her in death May 5, 2005.

She was an active member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, and its Altar Rosary Society.

A dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Dorothy enjoyed being a homemaker.

While raising her family, she worked as secretary-treasurer of her husband’s business, Union Plating Works, which he founded in 1950 out of their residence. As the company grew, it moved to Saegertown and later to Erie. The company did electro-plating in precious metals, including gold, silver, cadmium, nickel, chrome and copper for Sylvania, Westinghouse, GTE and TRW.

In her earlier years, she was employed by the former American Viscose, where she met her husband, Mike, who was the love of her life.

She learned the meaning of hard work and compassion at a very young age. Following the death of her mother, Dorothy was responsible for raising her brothers and sisters while she was only 16. She met the challenge with heartfelt dedication and continued to work hard throughout her life.

As a 1948 graduate of Sandy Lake High School, Dorothy regularly attended monthly luncheons and yearly reunions with her classmates. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, wintering in Florida and visiting her children and grandchildren.

Her hobbies included landscaping and gardening on her 20-acre homestead, antiquing and having garage sales. She always followed sporting events, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and most of all, professional golf events.

One of her favorite pastimes was solving word puzzles, especially cryptoquotes with her daughters. In her younger years, she was a duck pin bowler and enjoyed golfing with her husband.

Dorothy is survived by: three children, Gloria K. Krolikowski, Pittsburgh; Wanda L. Krolikowski, Boca Raton, Fla.; and Stephen T. Krolikowski and his wife Jami, Delray Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Savanna Carrozzi, Pittsburgh; Kaleigh Krolikowski, John Krolikowski, Karly Krolikowski and Thomas Krolikowski, all Delray Beach; four stepgrandchildren, Michael Krolikowski, Michelle Ayala, Andrea Strebe and Denise Davis; a sister, Lucy Pistone, California; three brothers, Pete Palicia and his wife Berta, Willowick, Ohio; Zachary Palicia and his wife Jeanette; and David Palicia and his wife Teresa, all Stoneboro; a daughter-in-law, Shannon Krolikowski, Delray Beach; and many nieces and nephews including her godson, Major Eric Palicia.

In addition to Michael, her husband of 54 years, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, John M. Krolikowski; a stepson, Kenneth M. Krolikowski; a sister, Mary Ann Bolog; and three brothers, Joseph Palicia, Lucas Palicia and Patrick Palicia.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
