Beauty shop owner ran fruit farm with husband


---- — Dorothy E. Brady, Brookfield, passed away peacefully at 7:45 a.m. Monday (7-29-13) in her home with her loving family by her side. She was 94.

Dorothy was born Dec. 21, 1918 in Claysburg, Pa., a daughter of Alfaretta “Babe” and Chester Over.

She was married May 27, 1939, to Harry E. Brady, who preceded her in death Dec. 4, 2000.  

Together, they operated their home fruit farm, Brady’s Pear Orchard in Hartford, for nearly 20 years.  

She was the owner and operator of D.E.B.’s Beauty Shop, an active member of the Hartford Homemaker’s Club, and a founding member of the Hartford United Methodist Church.  A former “Floridian,” she also enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing cards.

Mrs. Brady is survived by a son, Timothy (Virginia) Brady, Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter, Sandra (Charles) Timko, Brookfield, with whom she made her home since 2001; and seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister and her stepfather, David Schladen.

The family requests that any material contributions be made in her name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512; or to Hartford United Methodist Church, Box 36, Hartford, OH 44424.
