Ruth Esther Packham

Md. woman graduated from Sharon High

WESTMINSTER, Md. — Ruth Esther Packham of Upperco, Md., died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Md. She was 71.

Born June 27, 1941, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Rev. William B. Furgess and Grace E. Tunner Furgess.  

She was a graduate of Sharon Senior High School.

She was the wife of David Alan Packham, her husband of 30 years, who died Dec. 4, 2008.

A woman of faith, she was a member of Babcock Presbyterian Church in Towson, Md., where in her early years she worked in the church child-care program.  

She was a member of Concordia Order of the Eastern Star in Parkville, Md.  

She especially enjoyed the company of her nephews and niece-in-law and doted on her great-niece and great-nephews, whose visits she enjoyed with all her heart and hers was a life of love.

Surviving are: her sister, the Rev. LoisAnn Furgess-Oler of Upperco; her brother-in-law Bruce Packham and his wife Sally; her nephews Jonathan Oler, Brian Packham and wife Maura, and Gregory Packham; a great-niece Yanna Oler; and great-nephews Aidan, Joseph and Ethan Packham.

She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, David Oler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Babcock Presbyterian Church, 8240 Loch Raven Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21286; Trinity United Church of Christ, Box 730, Manchester, MD 21102; or St. Marks United Church of Christ, Snydersburg, 1616 Cape Horn Road, Hampstead, MD 21074.

Service: A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday (3-28-13) in Babcock Presbyterian Church, 8240 Loch Raven Blvd., Baltimore, with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Harry Cahill, officiating.

Burial: Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore.
