Frederick Llewellyn

National Castings retiree was last of his siblings

Frederick Llewellyn, Mercer, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday (3-26-13) at Countryside. He was 92.

Mr. Llewellyn was a long time resident of Mercer. Fred was born on May 19, 1920 in Swissvale, Pa., to Frederick Llewellyn, Sr. and Katherine Lankes Hopkins Llewellyn.

He attended Sharon schools and was retired from the former National Castings Division of Midland Ross Corp., where he worked in the payroll department.  

He married the former Elinor Coryea on June 11, 1950 and she preceded him in death on April 18, 1994.

Fred is survived by two daughters:  Barbara Jordan and her husband Gary, Mercer, and Kay Spiker and her husband Barry, Grove City; a son, Michael Llewellyn and his wife Deborah, Acworth, Georgia; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was Catholic and a former member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Mercer.

Fred was the last surviving of his siblings.  He was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Edward Hopkins and William “Bud” Hopkins; and two sisters, Mary Smith and Betty Hinkson.

Interment: Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington.
