Holy Trinity member worked at former A&P

- — BOCA RATON, Fla. – Mary Locnikar of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Woodland Avenue, Sharon, passed away peacefully at 8 p.m. Saturday (3-8-14) in Manor Care, Boca Raton, Fla., after an extended illness. She was 92.

Mary was born in Farrell on Oct. 8, 1921, a daughter of the late Martin and Mary Hloda Opavsky. She was a 1940 graduate of Farrell High School and worked as secretary and clerk at the former A&P Supermarket in Sharon for 26 years.

Mary was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Hermitage, and was a very active member of its Dorcas Society.

She was a member of Slovak Evangelical Union 62. Mary loved to bake and was known for her Easter bread. She always enjoyed the times she spent with her family and friends.

She was the widow of Rudolph “Rudy” G. Locnikar, whom she married on March 2, 1946. He died in 1978.

She is survived by: two daughters, Aleta L. Kudelko and her husband John, West Middlesex; and Janice Barella, Boynton Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Johnathan R. Kudelko and his wife Sarah, Hermitage; and John Ross Barella, Boynton Beach; and two great-grandsons, Johnathan W. and Carson R. Kudelko. Several nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews also survive.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Mytych; two brothers, Martin and Paul Opavsky; and a son-in-law, John Barella.
