C. Genevieve Moats Leukhardt

- — C. Genevieve Moats Leukhardt of 504 E. Jamestown Road, Greenville, passed away at 1 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 95.

Mrs. Leukhardt was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Jamestown to Aaron and Edith Hall Moats.

She was a secretary and bookkeeper for 70 years.

Mrs. Leukhardt and her husband, Herman Leukhardt, whom she married Oct. 15, 1941, owned and operated several different businesses throughout their lives.

She attended Zion’s United Church of Christ of Greenville.

Genevieve was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star Century Chapter 100, Jamestown; the Ashtabula Antique Engine Club; and Friendship Grange; and had been a 4-H leader.

She was the last surviving member of her high school class of 1937 and had been the oldest member of the Jamestown Alumni Association.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Judy Leary and her husband Dave, Jamestown; grandchildren, Dr. Erin Pararas and her husband George, Marblehead, Mass.; Lt. Cmdr. Ryan Leary and his wife Sara, Boston; Dr. William Leukhardt and his wife Ashley, Cleveland; Brenda Tuttle and her husband Joe, Las Vegas; and Milade Sajeh Ault and her husband Dean, Naples, Fla.; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Herman Leukhardt Jr.; two sisters, Maxine Kidwell and Eileen Whitmore; and a brother, Francis “Brother” Moats.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday (3-22-14) in RANDALL FUNERAL HOME, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown, with Order of the Eastern Star rites at 7 p.m.

Service: Funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday (3-23-14) in Jamestown Presbyterian Church, Liberty Street, with the Rev. Donald F. Stanley Jr., pastor, officiating.

Interment: Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown.
