Ernestine ‘Teena’ Jones

Prince of Peace volunteer worked for Cheena’s, KBA


- — A funeral celebration of life service will be held today for Ernestine “Teena” Jones of Farrell. She departed this life on Monday, March 17, 2014, in UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. She was 77.

Mrs. Jones was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Greensburg, Pa., a daughter of Ernest and Ivy R. Goodwin Franklin.

She came to the Shenango Valley many years ago and was formerly employed with Cheena’s Hair Salon in Hermitage, and Keystone Blind Association in Farrell.

Teena often dedicated her time to volunteering with the Prince of Peace Center in Farrell. She enjoyed fishing and playing cards and dominos.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Gregory Jones, whom she married March 13, 1985; her daughter, Calathia and her husband Alonzo Carroll, Capitol Heights, Md.; her sons, Dewayne Banks and his wife Phyllis, Columbus, Ohio; and Leslie G. Franklin, Oil City; her grandchildren, Alonzo D. and Shanice J. Carroll, both Capitol Heights; Leslie Franklin Jr., Youngstown; and a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Franklin.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to time of service today (3-22-14) in Hour of Power Full Gospel Tabernacle, Farrell. Visit to leave condolences and sign an online guestbook.

Service: Funeral celebration of life service at 11:30 a.m. today in the church.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery Hermitage.
