Edward J. Davis

Sharon Steel retiree was fan of Pirates, Steelers


- — Edward J. Davis, formerly of the Reynolds area of Pymatuning Township, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Whitecliff Health and Rehabilitation Center, Hempfield Township, after a two-year illness. He was 73.

Mr. Davis was born Feb. 25, 1941, in Mercer to Milton E. and Helen M. Cameron Davis.

He graduated from Sharpsville High School class of 1960.

Edward worked at the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant for 29 years until his retirement.

On July 15, 1978, he married the former Mary Dennison, who passed away March 9, 2000.

Edward attended the Methodist church and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599, Reynolds, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Shenango Aerie 805, Greenville.

Edward enjoyed sports of all kinds. He followed the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and very seldom missed a game on TV. He was also an avid Sharpsville High football fan.

Edward is survived by: two daughters, Joyce A. Davis and her companion William Shannon, and Christine Davis, all Greenville; and two sisters, Barbara A. Colon, Lima, Ohio; and Mrs. John K. (Peg) Mohney, Transfer.

Also surviving are four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Mary Davis, he was preceded in death by his father, Milton E. Davis; his mother, Helen M. Davis; and two sisters, Patricia Rainey and Mary Belle Vodenichar.

Service: Funeral services at noon Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. C. Charles Eckles, pastor of IHS Gospel Ministries, Hermitage, officiating.

Interment: West Side Cemetery, South Pymatuning Township.
