Francis E. McCann

WWII veteran born here worked for city in Calif.


---- — Francis E. McCann of Jefferson Township passed away at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. He was 90.

Mr. McCann was born April 22, 1923, in Greenville to Joseph and Gladys Yonkers McCann.

Francis worked on a road crew for the street department of San Bernardino County, Calif.

He served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946 and received the rank of aviation machinist mate 3/C.

Francis was a member of the Knights of Columbus, San Bernardino.

His wife, the former Lorraine Jarchow, whom he married Aug. 31, 1946, survives at home.

Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Crivello and her husband Ron, Jefferson Township; and Susan Kovach and her husband Gary, Fontana, Calif.; two sons, Joseph McCann and his wife Sylvia, Redlands, Calif.; and Charles McCann and his wife Cindy, Fontana, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul R. McCann and James R. McCann.

Burial: St. Michael’s Cemetery, Greenville.
