Outdoorsman worked for Sharon Steel, others


---- — Paul A. Dzaja of Spangler Road, Hermitage, passed away at 1:09 a.m. Wednesday (8-28-13) in Liberty Health Care Center in Youngstown, after a one-year battle with colon cancer. He was 66.

Mr. Dzaja was born March 28, 1947, in Sharon, a son of Paul Rudolph Dzaja and Mary Jane Jackson Dzaja.

He was a 1965 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, and attended Youngstown State University.

Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1967-72 during the Vietnam conflict.

He was employed as a millwright at the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant for 25 years and had also worked for Totin Contacting, Alliance Castings and Wheatland Tube Co.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman and, in his spare time, enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a kind and loving man and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, the former Melita Pujic, whom he married July 8, 1972.

Paul also leaves behind: two children, Melissa Malito and her husband Tom, Girard, Ohio; a son, Paul V. Dzaja, Hermitage; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Dominic, Madison and Mia Malito; and a sister, Deborah Campbell and her husband Gary, Orlando, Fla.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank Liberty Health Care Center and the staff of Crossroads Hospice for the care and support they provided to Paul and his family. They would also like to thank family and friends who have shown their love and support during this difficult time, especially his cousins, Donna Billioni and Jack Wesneski, and his dear friends, Ron and Mary Malson and Jack Crocker, for the countless hours they spent with him.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in Paul’s memory to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Uniontown, OH 44685.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Saturday (8-31-13) in St. Anthony’s Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, with the Rev. Joseph C. Campbell, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
