Edward ‘Ed’ Joseph Gurgovits

Former Shenango Valley man was cyclist, angler


BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — Edward “Ed” Joseph Gurgovits of Blue Springs, formerly of Sharpsville and Blasdell, N.Y., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, in his home in Blue Springs. He was 60.

Mr. Gurgovits was born Sept. 15, 1952, in Sharon and lived in the Independence/Blue Springs area since 2004.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Stephen George Gurgovits, and mother, Agnes Marie Durick Gurgovits.

Surviving are: his wife, Angela Huesgen, at home; stepsons, Joseph and Walter Hare; sister, Patricia Stafford, wife of Jim; and brother, Stephen Gurgovits, husband of Sandy.

Ed is also survived by two nephews, three nieces, four grandnephews and a grandniece, Lisa Stafford, who was his favorite biking buddy.

He also leaves behind many close friends.

Ed was an avid cyclist and loved to fish and fuss about baseball.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 in the Trouser Mouse in Blue Springs.
