Robert Durrell Frye

Transportation company owner was avid hunter

---- — The beloved Robert Durrell Frye of Greenville, husband of 30 years to Sandra Frye, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, in his home. He was 78.

Mr. Frye was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Greenville, to Leonard and Freda Harpst Frye.

He graduated from Greenville High School class of 1952, where he was a football athlete.

Mr. Frye owned and operated Frye’s Busing (Robert Frye, Inc.) in Greenville. A devoted business owner, he cherished the services of the many employees he sustained for five decades as they passionately contributed to the transportation requirements of thousands of students through the years.

Bob, as he was known to many of his friends and family, found solace in his many years as an avid game hunter, enjoying time with his closest friends in places such as North and South Dakota. He took pride in having understood the needs of the National Wild Turkey Federation. His contributions through the years have made a difference.

He is survived by: his wife, Sandra Frye; his sons, Lon Frye, Florida; and Jay Frye, Greenville; his daughters, Holly Plyler, Cleveland; and Amy Markstahler, Florida; his three stepchildren, Sheri Firch, Delaware; Gary Malsom, Michigan; and Tammy Malsom, Florida; and a sister, Virginia Watt, Florida.

Also surviving him are 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Family Hospice and Palliative Care (Quality of Life Program…Enriching the Lives of Patients) in care of Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett St., Pittsburgh, PA 15243, 1-800-513-2148.
