Wheatland Tube retiree belonged to Notre Dame


---- — Jack H. Lait of Hermitage passed away unexpectedly at 5:22 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. He was 81.

Mr. Lait was born March 22, 1932, in Farrell, a son of William and Bessie Shope Lait.

He was a 1952 graduate of Farrell High School and served as a corporal with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956.

Jack retired from Wheatland Tube Co. after many years of employment..

He was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

His wife, the former Elizabeth “Betty” A. Cubellis, formerly of New Castle, whom he married June 29, 1957, passed away Sept. 15, 2009.

Surviving are: two sons, William T. Lait and his wife Marilyn, Sharon; and John M. Lait, Hermitage; a granddaughter, Samantha Lait, Sharon; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

Besides his wife, Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman and Harry Lait; and three sisters, Mary Thompson, Alice Baker and Lucille Gaines.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 850 Sligo Ave., Suite 800, Silver Spring, MD 20910; Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148; or Meals on Wheels, 396 Buhl Blvd., Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of Mass Saturday (9-14-13) in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, Dutch Lane, Hermitage. Military honors will be rendered by the Hickory VFW Honor Guard immediately prior to the Mass. Friends may e-mail condolences by visiting

Service: Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday in the cemetery chapel with the Rev. Jeffery J. Noble, pastor of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
