John E. Hockenberry

- — John was born in Grove City on Dec. 16, 1931 to the late Floyd and Mary McConnell Hockenberry.

He married Sandra L. Hedglin on April 9, 1983, she survives at home.

John attended Wayside Community Church, and he was baptized on April 19, 1998 at The First Church of God, Grove City. John loved the Lord, and he was a strong believer in prayer. His faith was very important to him.

He retired from Dick Corp. in 1988. He was a carpenter for more than 60 years, and he belonged to Union 142, Pittsburgh.

During his retirement he kept busy with gardening, mowing, and playing with his cat, Fluffy.

John loved his wife and his family dearly, he loved to pray for others in need, and he will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Besides his wife he is survived by: four sons, Gary Hockenberry, Mercer; James Hockenberry, Stoneboro; David Hockenberry, Jackson Center; and Ernie Hardisky, Grove City; one daughter, Judith Roseth and husband James, California; one step-son, Scott Heasley and wife Rhonda, Florida; and one step-daughter, Tracy Wegrzynek, Mercer; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Jean Cox and husband Wayne, New Castle; and two nephews. He also leaves his beloved cat, Fluffy.

Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday (12-10-13) in Wayside Community Church, 1911 Mercer-Grove City Road, Mercer, with the Rev. Lester Rowan officiating.

Burial: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
