Richard J. ‘Dick’ Snyder

Peoples Gas retiree enjoyed GC sports

- — Richard was born Sept. 17, 1945, in Grove City to Albert C. and Florence Connor Snyder.

He graduated from Grove City High School in 1963.

He married Lynn Penman on July 27, 1968.

He worked for Peoples Natural Gas Company for 35 years and retired in 2000 as a supervisor.

He served in the National Guard from 1964 and transferred to the Army Reserves in Farrell, serving a combined 31 years. He retired as a lieutenant colonel.

He was a member of the F.& A.M. Lodge 603, Grove City, American Legion Post 519 and the former Grove City Elks Lodge.

“Dick” was an avid Grove City sports fan, and he attended most football and basketball games.  He also enjoyed golfing.

Surviving are: his wife, Lynn, at home; three children, JoDee L. Patterson and husband, Wade, Grove City; Michael J. Snyder and wife Aimee, Morgantown, W.Va.; and Erik J. Snyder and wife, Joanna, Windsor, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Mackenzie and Kameron Patterson; Gracie and Jenson Snyder; Carter and Cullen Snyder; two sisters, Judy Miller and husband Tom, Grove City; and Joyce Godina, Cambridge Springs; one brother, James Snyder and wife Bonnie, Grove City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grove City High School Boosters, supporting football or basketball.

Service: 10 a.m., Monday, (12-9-13) in the funeral home with Rev. Ron Hankey.
