Agnes Russo Cossentino

Retired nurse’s aide also worked for Strouss’


---- — Agnes Russo Cossentino, New Castle, passed away Saturday afternoon (9-21-13) in Golden Hill Nursing Home. She was 92.

Born Aug. 4, 1921 in Ellwood City, she was a daughter of John and Philomena DeMauro Rossi.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred F. Russo Sr., who passed away Aug. 29, 1969. She later married John J. Cossentino Jr. on July 26, 1972. He preceded her in death March 2, 1996.

In earlier years, Agnes worked for the former Strouss’ Department Store as a sales clerk.

She retired from St. Francis Hospital, New Castle, where she worked as a nurse’s aide.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting and bowling.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be missed by those who knew her.

Agnes was a member of Christ the King Parish, Bessemer.

Surviving are: her children, John Russo and his wife Sandra, Sarasota, Fla.; Beverly Majocka and her husband Stanley, Pittsburgh; and Alfred Russo Jr. and his wife Sharon, New Castle; a daughter-in-law, Judith Russo, New Castle; brothers, Paul Rossi, Apex, N.C.; John Rossi,New Castle; and Anthony Rossi, Ellwood City; sisters, Rose Fusetti, Oregon; and Theresa DeCaro, Ellwood City; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Agnes was preceded in death by a son, Angelo A. Russo Sr.; sisters, Mary Russo and Caroline Lonnett; and brothers, Domenick Rossi and Peter Rossi.
