John Robert “Bob” McNeelege of Pymatuning Township died at 7:08 a.m. Saturday (9-28-13) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 83.
Mr. McNeelege was born April 24, 1930, in Sharon to John Alfred and Clara (Grace) McNeelege.
Bob graduated from Sharon High School in 1948.
He married Geraldine (Murphy) McNeelege on Aug. 26, 1950.
He retired in 1992 from Sharon Steel Corp., Farrell, as a draftsman after 43 years of service.
He was a member of the Lakeside Evangelical Congregational Church, Pymatuning Township. He was a former member and served on the board of the former Greencrest Church.
He served in the U.S. Army and the reserves during peacetime
Bob was a member of the Sharon American Legion, a former Boy Scout leader for the former Troop 52 of Greencrest, and a former board member of Reynolds School District and what is now Mercer County Career Center. He enjoyed woodworking and had his own wood shop in his garage. He also enjoyed camping, traveling and, most of all, attending family gatherings.
Surviving are: his wife, at home; three sons, Robert Dave McNeelege and his wife Donna of Transfer; Richard McNeelege and his wife Kathy of Georgetown, Texas; and John Kevin McNeelege of Transfer; a sister, Lois Carney of Okee_chobee, Fla.; a half-sister; Mary Tryan and her husband Thomas of Warren, Ohio; a half-brother, Bill McNeelege of Hawaii; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was perceded in death by his father; his mother, Clara Smith; his stepmother, Mary McNeelege; his stepfather, Byrd Smith.
