Retired bank teller liked bowling, golf, bridge

GROVE CITY — LaVerna “Mickey” Edmiston of Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday (9-28-2013). She was 91.

Mrs. Edmiston was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Westmoreland County to Samuel and Nellie J.  Leasure McGurie.

She married Earl R. Edmiston on June 15, 1942. He died on Aug. 25, 1990.

Mrs. Edmiston retired from First Seneca Bank in Grove City, where she was a bank teller. Formerly, she was a clerk at Kings Shoe Store, Grove City.

She was a member Tower Presbyterian Church, Grove City.

Mrs. Edmiston belonged to the women’s bowling league in Grove City.  She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge.

Surviving are: a daughter, Ginger L. Uber and husband David W, Grove City; a son, Edward R Edmiston and wife Alice, Henderson, Nev.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Margaret and Dorothy; and two brothers, Robert McGurie and Clyde McGurie

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mickey’s memory to either the Grove City Area Historical Society, P.O. Box 764, or Grove City Meals on Wheels, 809 Columbia Ave., both Grove City, PA 16127.

Calling hours: 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday (10-1-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Funeral: noon Tuesday (10-1-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Willard Morse officiating.

Burial: North Liberty Cemetery.
