Mildred ‘Aunt Mimi’ Zipay

- — Mildred “Aunt Mimi” Zipay, Sharon, went home to be with her Lord at 12:05 a.m. Friday (10-25-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 92.

She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Sharon, a daughter and one of six children born to John and Mary Muha Zachar.

A lifelong city resident, she graduated from Sharon High School.

For more than 40 years she worked in the office at the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corp.

She was a faithful, lifetime and active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served as president of the Altar Guild.

Her husband, George Zipay, whom she married Sept. 18, 1959, passed away Oct. 10, 1982.

She is survived by a sister, Anne Zachar, Sharon; two brothers, John Zachar, Sharon; and Edward Zachar and his wife Mildred, Niles, Ohio; and several loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, John; and a brother, Joseph Zachar and his wife Irene.

Internment: With her husband in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
