Sharon Honda mechanic enjoyed outdoor activities

- — George Paul Leighty of Hermitage passed away at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, in his companion’s home. He was 31.

Mr. Leighty was born May 12, 1982, in Greenville, a son of George R. and Susan M. Mattern Leighty.

He attended Hermitage School District. After graduating in 2000, George went on to receive his certification as a Honda and Suzuki mechanic from Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) in Phoenix, Ariz.

George was employed as a mechanic for Sharon Honda.

Among many outdoor activities, George was an avid fisherman and enjoyed motocross, hunting and camping. He was a member of the American Poolplayers Association (APA).

He is survived by his mother, Susan M. Leighty, Hermitage; his father, George R. Leighty and his wife Susan, Mercer; a sister, Tashana Leighty, Oil City; a niece, Gabriella Leighty; a nephew, Macon Dawson; his paternal grandmother, Delsie Leighty, Mercer; a stepbrother, Robert Hurtt, Greenville; and a stepsister, Belinda Patterson, New Castle.

George is also survived by his companion, Katie Kovach.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lena and George Mattern; and paternal grandfather, George F. Leighty.
