Ryan Patrick Voorhees

Stoneboro church member worked at Shurfine

- — Ryan Patrick Voorhees, Franklin, formerly of Stoneboro, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon (11-2-13) as a result of injuries he received in an automobile accident in Sandy Lake Township. He was 37.

Born March 15, 1976, in Grove City, he was a son of Ronald L. and Patricia A. Flynn Voorhees.

He was a 1994 graduate of Lakeview High School and attended Edinboro University.

Ryan had worked for more than 15 years at McKean’s Shurfine of Sandy Lake.

Growing up in Stoneboro, he was a member of Stoneboro Presbyterian Church.

Ryan was a member of “The Best Husband Club of America” and was a wonderful husband to wife Maggie and a loving father to daughter Mairi, as she was the main focus of his life.

He enjoyed all the kids and loved to play baseball with them and entertain them with his skit of “grandpa pants,” which even the grownups enjoyed.

He loved his time spent at the cottage on Stoneboro Lake.

He loved animals, especially his dogs Lorenzo and Jack.

His wife, the former Margaret K. “Maggie” Smith, whom he married Dec. 31, 2004, survives at home.

Also surviving are: his daughter, Mairi Andra Voorhees, at home; his parents, Ron and Pati Voorhees, Stoneboro; a brother, Sean Voorhees and his wife JoAnna, Jackson Center; a nephew, Aiden Voorhees, Jackson Center; a brother-in-law John K. Hogue Jr., Stoneboro; in-laws Colleen Scurry and her husband Garrett “Pat”, Polk; and Marlin W. Smith, Sandy Lake.
