- — Sue Louise Groboski, formerly of Thomas Street, Sharon, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2013, in St. Paul’s, West Salem Township. She was 86.

Mrs. Groboski was born April 29, 1927, in Starford, Indiana County, one of seven children born to George and Mary Kraka Plafko.

She graduated from Commodore High School, Green Township, Indiana County.

In her early years, Sue worked for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

A homemaker, she belonged to St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, playing bingo and listening to polka music.

Sue enjoyed participating in all the programs at St. Paul’s, where she was a member of its Blue Bird Society and Peer Group.

Most important in her life were her family, friends and the people who took care of her at St. Paul’s and UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

Her husband, Bernard Albert “Abbie” Groboski, whom she married April 18, 1953, passed away Sept. 14, 2010.

Mrs. Groboski leaves: five daughters, Sandra McKinnis and her husband Tim, Meadville; Barbara Barry, Youngstown; Debra McDowell, Hubbard; Mary Bengs, Grove City; and Paula Suzelis and her husband Jeff, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons-in-law, Paul Bengs III and Patrick McDowell II; her three sisters, Helen D’Elio, Ann Watson and Mary Plafko; and three brothers, Joseph, John and Steve Plafko.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Saturday (11-9-13) in St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, with Monsignor Casimir Bogniak, senior associate, as celebrant. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for the church.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
