Wilbur Eugene Holsapfel

Westinghouse retiree was active in church


- — Wilbur Eugene Holsapfel of Reiber Road, West Middlesex, passed away in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. He was 86.

Mr. Holsapfel was born in Greenfield, Lackawannock Township on July 2, 1927, a son of Matthew Frederick Holsapfel and Clara Ellen Smith Holsapfel.

He married Shirley Darlene Frohman on March 14, 1964.

Wilbur retired in 1985 from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he worked as a coil winder.

He was a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Greenfield; and a former member of Church of God in Hermitage, where he had served as head usher and chairman of council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and travel.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Darlene Holsapfel, at home; a son, Lynn Frederick Holsapfel, Thornton, Colo.; and two granddaughters, Dawna Marie and Cora Marie Holsapfel, both of Colorado.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harry, Paul and Robert; and two sisters, Betty and Gladys.

Memorial contributions may be given to Lebanon Presbyterian Church.

Calling hours: 3 to 6 p.m. Monday (11-11-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex; and 12:30 p.m. to time of service Tuesday (11-12-13) in Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Greenfield.

Service: Funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Augie Hurst, pastor, presiding.

Interment: Full military honors at Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Lackawannock Township.
