Volant man was employed by Tri-County Industries


---- — Rex William Vaughan of Perry Highway, Volant, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at 7:43 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, in his residence after an extended illness. He was 51.

Mr. Vaughan was born Oct. 8, 1961, in New Castle to William Lee Vaughan and Elizabeth McNulty Vaughan.

Rex married Karen Kay Mathieson on Aug. 24, 1990.

He was employed at Tri-County Industries.

He practiced the Presbyterian faith. Rex’s interests included NASCAR, his Harley and, most importantly, his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife, Karen Vaughan, of their residence; a son, Fred R. Mathieson and his fiancée Rachelle, Springfield Township; two daughters, Crystal L. and Rachel A. Vaughan, of the residence; a sister, Kathleen Mae and her husband Michael Kloos, West Middlesex; a brother, Kevin Allen Vaughan and his wife Paula, Volant; and five grandchildren, Dustin, Kaitlin, Abagail, Colton and Jayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darl “Pete” Vaughan.

Memorials may be given to the funeral home.

Calling hours: 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday (8-22-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME OF LEESBURG, 1778 Perry Highway, Springfield Township.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday (8-23-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Augie Hurst, pastor of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Lackawannock Township, officiating.

Interment: Will follow at Leesburg Cemetery, Springfield Township.
